1. Who We Are 

1.1. Arise Foundation is an anti-slavery charity. We exist to build networks to end the scandal of contemporary slavery. Gathering and processing your data helps us to develop this movement.

1.2. This notice provides you with the necessary information regarding your rights and obligations, and explains how, why and when we collect and process your personal data.

1.3. Arise’s registered office is at 175, 169 Hammersmith Road, W6 8DB and we are a charity registered in England and Wales under charity number 1165248 and United States (EIN 81-1111051). 2. Information That We Collect

2.1. Arise processes your personal information to meet our legal, statutory and contractual obligations and to provide you with information about the anti-slavery movement and Arise’s work. We will never collect any unnecessary personal data from you and do not process your information in any way, other than for the purposes already specified in this notice.

2.2.  The personal data that we collect from you is: -

3. How We Use Your Personal Data

3.1. Arise maintains a culture of respect for the privacy of those in our network. We will never disclose, share or sell your data without your consent, unless required to do so by law. We only retain your data for as long as is necessary and for the purposes specified in this notice. In the unlikely event that we seek your consent to provide you with promotional offers and marketing (and you have given the necessary permissions) you are free to withdraw consent at any time. The purposes and reasons for processing your personal data are detailed below: -
3.2. We collect your personal data for:
  • Contacting you to keep you informed about the anti-slavery work of Arise.

  • Contacting you to keep you informed about developments within the policy community and beyond that relate to the problem of contemporary slavery.

  • Offering opportunities to support our work, and the work of other individuals and organisations who share our goal of abolition.

  • Offering opportunities to become involved in the anti-slavery movement in other ways, for example, through volunteering.

 

4. Your Rights

4.1. You have the right to access any personal information that Arise processes about you and to request information about: -

  • What personal data we hold about you

  • The purposes of the processing

  • The categories of personal data concerned

  • The recipients to whom the personal data has/will be disclosed

  • How long we intend to store your personal data for

  • If we did not collect the data directly from you, information about the source

4.2. If you believe that we hold any incomplete or inaccurate data about you, you have the right to ask us to correct and/or complete the information and we will strive to update/correct it as quickly as possible; unless there is a valid reason for not doing so, at which point you will be notified.

4.3. You also have the right to request erasure of your personal data or to restrict processing in accordance with data protection laws, as well as to object to any direct marketing from us and to be informed about any automated decision-making that we use.

4.4. If we receive a request from you to exercise any of the above rights, we may ask you to verify your identity before acting on the relevant request; this is to ensure that your data is protected and kept secure.

4.5. Your data may also be available to our website provider to enable us and them to deliver their service to us, carry out analysis and research on demographics, interests and behavior of our users and supporters to help us gain a better understanding of them to enable us to improve our services. This may include connecting data we receive from you on the website to data available from other sources. Your personally identifiable data will only be used where it is necessary for the analysis required, and where your interests for privacy are not deemed to outweigh their legitimate interests in developing new services for us. In the case of this activity the following will apply:

  1. Your data will be made available to our website provider
  2. The data that may be available to them include any of the data we collect as described in this policy.
  3. Our website provider will not transfer your data to any other third party, or transfer your data outside of the EEA.
  4. They will store your data for a maximum of 7 years.
  5. This processing does not affect your rights as detailed in this privacy policy.

 

5. Sharing and Disclosing Your Personal Information

5.1. We do not share or disclosure any of your personal information without your consent, other than for the purposes specified in this notice or where there is a legal requirement. From time-to-time Arise uses third parties to provide the below services and business functions, however all processors acting on our behalf only process your data in accordance with instructions from us and comply fully with this privacy notice, the data protection laws and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures.

 

6. Safeguarding Measures

6.1. Arise takes your privacy seriously and we take every reasonable measure and precaution to protect and secure your personal data. We work hard to protect you and your information from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction and have several layers of security measures in place, including encryptions and password protection.

 

7. Consequences of Not Providing Your Data

7.1. You are not obliged to provide your personal information to Arise, however, as this information is required for us to provide you with our services and deliver your products, we will not be able to offer some/all of our products or services without it.

 

8. How Long We Keep Your Data

8.1. Arise only ever retains personal information for as long as is necessary and we have strict review and retention policies in place to meet these obligations. We are required under UK tax law to keep your basic personal data (name, address, contact details) for a minimum of 3 years after which time it will be destroyed.

8.2. Where you have consented to us using your details for direct marketing, we will keep such data until you notify us otherwise, withdraw your consent or the data will automatically be erased three years after the last communication.

 

9. Lodging A Complaint

9.1. Arise only processes your personal information in compliance with this privacy notice and in accordance with the relevant data protection laws. If, however you wish to raise a complaint regarding the processing of your personal data or are unsatisfied with how we have handled your information, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority.
